FILM FORUM
2023Film Forum is a nonprofit cinema in New York City, known for presenting films that explore the complexities of our shared human experience. Since 1970, it has served as a vital space for independent cinema and critical discourse.
The rebrand introduces a bold, modernized identity that visually embodies the theater’s curatorial philosophy. At its core is a typographic frame — derived from the letterforms “f” and “m” in the wordmark — functioning as a modular vessel for content. This frame acts as both container and lens, rotating to reveal layered information, much like a film strip unspooling scene by scene.
Each film is categorized into one of four themes — to move, to dream, to feel, and to see — represented by vivid neon hues of orange, purple, pink, and green. This chromatic system provides intuitive navigation through Film Forum’s diverse programming, while channeling the emotional resonance of cinema through color.
