1 DIRECTOR
50 POSTERS
20251 Director 50 Posters is an annual poster exhibition showcasing 50 curated posters, celebrating a featured director’s body of work through the perspectives of designers.
The first edition debuts in collaboration with the New York Film Festival’s Director Retrospective, featuring the films of David Lynch.
At the center of the identity is a rectangular frame that combines the logotype with the exhibition year — at once a poster, a film screen, and a modular structure composed of multiple smaller frames. Each unit serves as a canvas for a different designer, forming a collective portrait of Lynch through distinct visual interpretations.
Color adds a psychological layer to the system, drawn from two recurring themes in Lynch’s films. Blue pulls inward—into dreams, memory, and blurred identity. Red pushes outward—into social control, violence, and appearances. Together, these tensions define the core curatorial theme of this year’s exhibition.
